About

Who runs this site

My name is Nam. I run Picklumo on my own.

I’m not a licensed electrician. I don’t own a testing lab. I’m not part of a team, and there is no editorial board behind this site — just one person doing research.

I say this upfront because a lot of review sites imply expertise they don’t have, and I’d rather you know exactly what you’re reading.

What I actually do

I research portable power stations, solar generators, and home backup systems. I read manufacturer documentation, compile specifications into comparison tables, and go through hundreds of verified-purchase reviews looking for patterns — especially the problems that show up after six months, which product pages never mention.

Then I write it down so you don’t have to do it yourself.

Why this category

Power outages are getting longer and more frequent. Battery technology got good enough, and cheap enough, that home backup is now a real option for ordinary households — not just people with solar arrays.

But the market is confusing. Specs are inconsistent. Marketing numbers don’t match real-world performance. Two products at the same price can differ enormously in ways that aren’t obvious until you own one.

That gap is what this site is for.

What I can’t help with

I can’t tell you what’s safe for your home. Wiring, installation, transfer switches, load calculations for your specific panel — that’s work for a licensed electrician in your area. I can help you compare products. I can’t certify your setup.

And I’ll repeat what should be obvious but kills people every year: never run a fuel-powered generator indoors, in a garage, or in any enclosed space. Carbon monoxide has no smell.

How I make money

Affiliate commissions. When you buy through a link here, I earn a percentage at no extra cost to you.

I don’t take payment for placement. No brand sees my content before it publishes. If a product has a known flaw, it goes in the review — commission or not.

You can read exactly how I evaluate products on the Methodology page.
